Lt. Col. Oliver North will be in Springfield Wednesday to sign copies of his new book, "American Heroes in Special Operations."

North will be at Borders Books, 3300 S. Glenstone Ave., at 4 p.m. His visit is part of a 17-city book tour.

North is a 22-year veteran of the Marine Corps and a recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Perhaps best known for his role in the "Iran-Contra affair" in the 1980s when he served as the government's counter-terrorism coordinator on the National Security Council, North has since authored several best-selling books, hosted a radio show, continues to write a syndicated column, hosts "War Stories with Oliver North" and is a regular commentator on "Hannity," both on the Fox News Channel.
