GO

American Heroes Challenge The best from the armed forces, law enforcement and first responders compete in simulations of real-world events. And you get to watch it for free. But feel free to donate, as all proceeds go toward building a veterans memorial in Las Vegas. November 6 & 7, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Clark County Shooting Park.

Stand up for Skateparks Tony Hawk throws a mean party. The Birdman's action-sports carnival hits the Wynn, featuring a vert demo by Hawk and Shaun White, a live auction and a DJ set by Z-Trip—all funding skatepark construction in low-income communities. On the auction block: a chance to appear in Hawk's next video game. Time to clear out that piggy bank. November 6, noon-4 p.m., $350 ($300 to sponsor a local child), Wynn Las Vegas, win tickets here.

Jason Alexander We know he can do self-loathing and unscrupulous. (See: George Costanza in every episode of Seinfeld.) Here's evidence he can also do a hilarious send-up of motivational speaking. Alexander stars as toupeed life coach Donny Clay. November 4-10, 8 p.m., $77, Hollywood Theatre at MGM Grand.

Lightscapes Forget LCDs. Las Vegas is still the city of neon and lights. Derek Sola reminds us with his black-and-white night photographs overlapping iconic illuminated signage of Fremont Street and the Strip for a pulsating retro feel. Through November 27, Brett Wesley Gallery.

HEAR

Sufjan Stevens Wanna hear that banjo-playing folkster you loved last decade? Go play Illinois. New disc The Age of Adz finds Stevens embracing electronics, orchestration and, on one track, Auto-Tune. Brilliant? Quite possibly. Must-hear music? For sure.

SEE

The Walking Dead Sick of zombies? Give the undead one more chance with a new series that's as much about character moments and moral quandaries as it is about people getting their flesh ripped off. Sundays, 10 p.m., AMC.

CHEW

Extra Dessert Delights Gum Yes, we're recommending gum. Because it's so effing awesome. Available in key lime pie, strawberry shortcake, and—our personal fave—mint chocolate chip! Visit facebook.com/extragum for a sample pack.
