The Colony will celebrate Veterans Day with a bang with the third annual American Heroes: A Salute to Veterans event on Nov. 6.

The day will be full of activities for the entire community, whether you are a veteran or not. Events include a 5K/10K/1-Mile Fun Run, veterans ceremonies, a car, truck and bike show, family entertainment, live music, a carnival, a 3v3 soccer tournament, and a fireworks finale to top off the day.

Bucky Covington will be the headliner act for American Heroes. Covington was a season five American Idol contestant who is now an up-and-coming contemporary country artist debuting his second album, titled, Im Alright.

The Colonys Parks and Recreation Department is so thrilled to bring this event to our community, said Lindsey Stansell, special events coordinator for the city. We are looking forward to all of the fun things we have planned including the fantastic band, but most of all we are proud to honor those who have served this country.

The events will be held at The Colony 5-Star Sports Complex at 4100 Blair Oaks Drive, except for the 5K/10K/1-Mile Fun Run activities which will be held at Stewart Creek Park on 3700 Sparks Road.

American Heroes is co-sponsored by American Legion Holley-Riddle Post No. 21.
