The 32nd Deerfield Harvest Festival will be held Oct. 8 to 10 in Rosenhayn.

As part of the event, the Deerfield Township Recreation Committee will sponsor a SingFest, formerly called the Harvest Festival Idol Contest. The committee has also added a category for singing groups of two or more for the contest.

The preliminary competition will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the festival's Comcast Stage.

Finalists selected on Oct. 8 will compete for the $100 cash prizes at 1 p.m. Oct. 10 at the festival.

Solo singers and groups are invited to enter the contest.

The entry deadline is Sept. 24.

This year's contest theme is "American Heroes and Hearts." Contestants are asked to sing any song with a theme or lyrics about America, heroes, armed forces or the heart.

Solo performers will compete in age categories of 4 to 12, 13 to 18 and 19 and older. There will only be one category for groups.

The winner in each category will receive a $100 cash prize and a certificate for a recording session at Arsenal Sound to produce a demo CD.
