The Journal's Unsung Heroes stories are published between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. ——— MARTINSBURG — An air transportation specialist with the 167th Airlift Wing has volunteered for another tour in the Middle East. Staff Sgt. Clayton R. Atkinson said he's proud to provide support for the war on terrorism. "I may not be on the front lines with a rifle like the Army and Marines, but if I can get them their supplies, I feel we can come out of this on a positive note," the Hagerstown man. said. Atkinson, who is assigned to the Air Terminal Operations Center at the Martinsburg air base, is slated to head to Iraq next May. The ATOC is the command and control center for the aerial port at the 167th Airlift Wing. » Full Story |
